6 Number of times BJ Watling has effected five or more dismissals in a Test innings, the most among all New Zealand wicketkeepers. Brendon McCullum and Adam Parore have both done it four times. Watling had six dismissals in Sri Lanka's first innings in Dunedin, which is only the third instance of six or more dismissals for a New Zealand wicketkeeper in a Test innings.
2.10 Watling's dismissals per innings, which is the best among New Zealand wicketkeepers, and the third-best among all wicketkeepers (with a 25-Test cut-off). Only Adam Gilchrist (2.178) and Brad Haddin (2.109) have a better rate of dismissals per innings.
19 Instances of New Zealand's openers adding 50 or more in each innings of a Test; in this Dunedin Test, Martin Guptill and Tom Latham added 56 in the first innings and 79 in the second. The previous such instance was six years ago, in Napier against Pakistan, when Tim McIntosh and Watling added 60 in the first innings and 90 in the second.
27.51 Sri Lanka's batting average in Tests in 2015, which is their lowest in a calendar year since the beginning of 1995. In 2014 they averaged 39.63 runs per wicket. In 2015, only South Africa and West Indies have a poorer batting average in Tests than Sri Lanka; in 2014, only Pakistan had a higher average.
2 Number of times a New Zealand batsman has scored 1000 or more Test runs in a calendar year. Kane Williamson has an aggregate of 1040, making him the second batsman to join the group, after McCullum, who scored 1164 runs in 2014. Williamson also scored 926 Test runs in 2014, which means the top three instances of most Test runs for New Zealand in a calendar year have all happened in the last couple of years.
0 Number of times, before this Test, that two of Sri Lanka's top four batsmen had been dismissed in the 80s in the same innings. In their first innings in Dunedin, Dimuth Karunaratne made 84 and Dinesh Chandimal 83, which is the first instance of two dismissals in the 80s among Sri Lanka's top four in a Test innings.
53.80 Dimuth Karunaratne's Test batting average in New Zealand, the only country where he averages more than 50. In five innings here he has scored 269 runs, with a highest of 152.
