WEST INDIES fast bowler Ian Bishop is suffering from a
broken bone in his foot and will be out of today's
Emancipation match between a Jamaica X1 and a West
Indies X1 at Melbourne Oval. He will also miss the
County Championship which gets underway tomorrow.
Also missing today's match is Otis Gibson. The
Barbadian all-rounder is however, scheduled to arrive
tomorrow and will be representing Kingston Club in the
County Championship.
According to the Jamaica Cricket Board of Control,
Trinidadian Bishop returned home from England a few
days ago and on Tuesday informed the West Indies Board
of his injury.
It is understood that Bishop will be out of action for
at least five weeks.
Bishop was one of six designated professionals slated
to participate in the County Championships. His place
will be taken by young Guyanese pace bowler Reon King
who is expected to arrive today. Gibson was specially
contracted by Kingston.
The two players will be replaced for today's
Emancipation Day match at Melbourne Oval by legspinners
Dinanath Ramnarine and Angelo Bass
