Chris Simpson has been called into the Queensland squad for their Pura Cup match against South Australia at Brisbane starting on Friday. Simpson replaces Shane Watson, who was named in Australia's 13-man outfit for the CB Series finals against England.
Simpson, the offspinning allrounder, has been a regular in the Bulls' one-day line-up this season, he has not been required for the longer form of the game in 2006-07. Although it is a bottom-of-the-table clash, Queensland, who sit fifth with three wins, are only six points behind the first-placed Victoria.
The Redbacks, who have not won a match in 2006-07, will be strengthened by the return of Shaun Tait, who was released from the Australia squad at the same time Watson was recalled. South Australia should also benefit from Darren Lehmann's recovery from a hamstring injury.
Queensland squad Jimmy Maher (capt), Ryan Broad, Clinton Perren, Craig Philipson, James Hopes, Greg Moller, Chris Simpson, Chris Hartley (wk), Andy Bichel, Ashley Noffke, Daniel Doran, Nathan Rimmington.
South Australia squad Jason Borgas, Tom Plant, Matthew Elliott, Daniel Harris, Mark Cosgrove, Darren Lehmann (capt), Ben Cameron, Nathan Adcock, Shane Deitz (wk), Ryan Harris, Cullen Bailey, Jason Gillespie, Paul Rofe, Shaun Tait.
