Richard Reid will quit his post as the chief executive of Canterbury Cricket to take on a role in rugby administration. Reid has been named as the new chief executive of Otago Rugby and is expected to start his new job in October.
He is the second high-profile New Zealand cricket administrator to switch sports this year, following Martin Snedden's decision to give up his position as the chief executive of New Zealand Cricket to head the company that will organise the 2011 Rugby World Cup.
Reid, 48, was a first-class batsman for Wellington and Auckland and he also played nine one-day internationals for New Zealand from 1988 to 1991. He worked as the CEO of Nike New Zealand before joining Canterbury Cricket in 2001.
