First played in 1992, the Hong Kong event, which is fully sanctioned by the International Cricket Council, is the sport's longest-running, best-established and most high-profile sixes tournament, with an unrivalled history of world class players, great matches and sell-out crowds. Profits from the tournament are ploughed directly back into cricket development in Hong Kong through the Hong Kong Cricket Association.
CCIL was approached by the promoter of the recently announced iSixes World Series in Asia with a proposal for the Hong Kong Cricket Sixes to be included in their new venture. However, as at this time the proposed series does not have the necessary ICC sanction nor the sanction of the other home Boards in the countries proposed, and for other compelling reasons, it is not yet appropriate for the Hong Kong Sixes to be part of the proposed series.
As an organisation that cares passionately about cricket, CCIL welcomes any initiative that positively increases cricket's profile, reaches out to new fans and is good for the game.
China Cricket International Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Hong Kong Cricket Association and is responsible for the organisation and management of the Hong Kong Cricket Sixes.
