Launceston's Tim Coyle has been appointed to the empty position of the Tasmanian Cricket Association coaching and development manager. After an extensive interview process, Coyle has proven himself to be the one for the job.
After almost 9 years working for the TCA in different roles, Coyle's knowledge of the game of cricket and the way it is played in Tasmania is immense. In the past he has worked with mainly younger, aspiring cricketers, but now finds himself in a more important position as the TCA coaching and development manager.
Coyle played seven Sheffield Shield (now Pura Milk Cup) matches as wicketkeeper for Tasmania. He took seven catches and made 207 runs at an average of 18.82.
Formerly the Northern development manager, Coyle was selected from an elite band of candidates. His vast experience with beginning and State level players will aid him in his assignment to improve the quality of Tasmanian cricket.
A strong Launceston Cricket Club supporter, for whom he played a plethora of matches, Coyle's move to Hobart will benefit the Southern part of the State enormously.
TCA chief executive David Johnston had no doubts about Coyle's ability. "We are looking forward to Tim moving to Hobart and injecting his knowledge and enthusiasm into the coaching and development department, where I am sure we will see results from the elite player level down to the beginners level with our Have A Go Clinics," Johnston said.
Coyle fills the position that was vacated by Tony Judd.
