Cricket Australia is confident that more players will not join Stuart MacGill in his decision not to tour Zimbabwe on moral grounds. James Sutherland, the chief executive of CA, has said that all potential squad members had been counselled for their views on the tour in the weeks before the squads were announced, and none had shown strong objections to going.
"I've not seen anything to suggest other players might pull out," Sutherland is quoted as saying, in The Sydney Morning Herald newspaper. "I'd be very surprised if anyone did, based on the conversations we've had with the players along the way, including giving them one-on-one briefings about Stuart MacGill and what he was up to."
The report goes on to quote Tim May, the president of the Australian Cricketers' Association, as echoing Sutherland's views. He said, "I'm not aware of anyone else seriously contemplating pulling out," and added that no player had voiced his concern to the Cricketers' Association.
