An unbeaten hundred runs partnership for the second wicket by
Upul Fernando (36 n.o.) and Ranga Yasalal (49 n.o.) paved way
for Janashakthi Group to beat Ernest and Young by 8 wickets in
their M.C.A `C' Division match concluded recently at the MCA
grounds.
Earnest & Young - 109 in 43.1 overs.
D. Wijesinghe 43 not out, Sampath Wickramarachchi 2 for 15,
Prakash Schaffter 3 for 8, Upul Fernando 3 for 29.
Janashakthi Group - 110 for 2 wickets in 15.3 overs.
Upul Fernando 36 not out, Ranga Yasalal 47 not out.

Three brilliant batting performances by Sujith Ratnaweera (73),
Dinesh Schaffter (50) and Upul Fernando (48 n.o.) helped
Janashakthi Group to beat Colombo Hilton by seven wickets in
their MCA `C' division cricket match played recently at Wesley
college grounds.
Colombo Hilton - 221 for 6 wickets in 49 overs.
S. Gunatilake 61, S. Dissanayake 41, Sagara Kumara 3 for 40.
Janashakthi Group - 222 for 3 wickets in 36 overs.
Sujith Ratnaweera 73, Dinesh Schaffter 50, Upul Fernando 48 not
out.
Schaffter helps Janashakthi
Janashakthi Group trounced Airport and Aviation by 7 wickets in
their MCA `C' division cricket match concluded recently at the
Mercantile Cricket grounds.
The highlight of the match was the swashbuckling hay century
scored by Dinesh Schaffter.
Airport and Aviation - 114 - 41.1 overs. R. T. W. W. Soysa 24,
Ranga Yasalal 3-9, Sagara Kumara 3-23, Dinesh Schaffter 2-15.
Janashakthi Group - 117 for 3 wickets - 25 overs. Dinesh
Schaffter 53, Upul Fernando 27, Ranga Yasalal 27 n.o.
Cricket, netball tournaments
A cricket and netball tournament will be held at the
Agricultural Training School playground on August 2 at which
several agricultural institutes are expected to participate
under the auspices of Kundasale Centre.
Teams from Kundasale, Pelwehera, Angunukolapelessa, Karapincha,
Labuduwa and Puliankulama are expected to take part in this
50-over cricket tournament.
In the meantime students from Bibile and Wariyapola will
participate in the netball tournament. Winners will be awarded
with prizes and certificates.
