80 years old, Stan Tacey the Derbyshire scorer since 1983, has announced his retirement with immediate effect.
"I will miss the cricket terribly" said Stan, speaking from his home in Normanton, Detrbyshire, "I have had 17 very happy years scoring for my team, and have made many friends. The failing health of my wife Eileen has led to my decision, but there are times when these situations have far more importance than other considerations".
Stan, during his years had to take on the cumputer technology, and did so admirably, a printer for 45 years, helped him with the keyboard, and he took to the task.
Stan who also edited the Derbyshire Yearbook for 40 years, is replaced by John Brown. John has been around the scoring scene for a while, helping Stan with the scorebook, and also assisting David Wainwright at Warwickshire in CGU matches.
