Michael Dighton carved out a magnificent 152 to wage a lone battle for Tasmania against Victoria at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart. Wickets fell like ninepins around Dighton, but he defied the bowlers singlehandedly. When he was dismissed, the seventh wicket to fall, he had scored 152 out of a total of 278. Sean Clingeleffer, the wicketkeeper, put in the only other significant batting performance of the day with 46. When stumps were drawn Tasmania were tottering at 9 for 313. Tasmania need two points from this game to ensure a place in the final against Victoria.
