Peter Moores said Allan Donald was eager to become England's new fast-bowling coach but played down speculation the move was virtually a done deal. Last week it emerged that Donald was being lined up to replace Kevin Shine, who was set to take up an administrative role at the national academy.
Moores said Donald would be a valuable addition to the coaching staff but he was not certain to get the nod. "Allan is very keen to come and work with us," Moores told AFP.
"It's a big positive that someone of Allan's stature wants to come along. There have been no decisions made because we've had a Test match going on, but now that's over we can get into some discussions.
"I want to make sure that whoever we bring in fits our set-up and it's the right person and we don't just think that because it's a great name we should just pull them in." Donald applied for Shine's position when it was advertised at the end of 2005.
