The England Team training camp, originally scheduled to take place at Taunton on 11th - 13th May, has been cancelled.
With the lack of cricket played in April due to excessive rain, Duncan Fletcher, in consultation with Nasser Hussain and David Graveney, decided that the players would gain more effective preparation for the First Test Match against Zimbabwe by playing in PPP healthcare County Championship matches for their respective counties over this period.
"We want to give the England players another chance to get valuable middle practice," said Duncan Fletcher, England Team Head Coach, "for batsmen to get runs in competitive situations and for bowlers to bowl long spells."
The England Team will instead report to Lord's on Monday 15th May for their pre-Test preparation period. Any England players involved in the PPP healthcare County Championship match between Yorkshire and Hampshire will report to Lord's in time for practice on Tuesday 16th May.
The First Test Match versus Zimbabwe starts at Lord's on Thursday 18th May.
