A real upset was in the making at the home of the league champions when the visitors had Southampton Rangers reeling at 91-7. However, new skipper and Bermuda international, Janeiro Tucker rescued his team with a brutal 141 off only 119 balls that included 19 fours and 6 sixes. Ryan Belboda contributed 23 in the eighth wicket partnership with Tucker that added 104. Alastair Dalrymple was the most successful Eton bowler with 5-62. Fergus Boyd supported with 3-50. Match 3 - Sunday April 16
Eton College lost to National Select West by 108 runs.
National Select West 329 in 49 overs (A. Steede 103, L. Place 64; E. Williams 2-85)
Eton College 221-9 in 50 overs (A. Goldberg 61; W. White 2-14)
The Bermuda heat and playing their third straight game appeared to affect the tourists in their match against a National Select West side. Skipper and Bermuda international Albert Steede had no hesitation in batting first, subjecting Eton College to a second straight day of high noon sun. Perhaps if opener Steede hadn't been dropped in his forties this match may have been a bit closer, but as it turned out, Steede went on to complete a century before retiring. He shared in an opening stand of 126 with Leon Place who scored an impressive 64. Ricky Brangman (43), Cleon Scotland (42 retired) and Wendell White (38 retired) also got amongst the runs. Edward Williams took two wickets but at a costly 85 runs. To their credit, Eton College batted out their 50 overs with Adam Goldberg playing beautifully for his 61. Embarrassingly for the local team, extras contributed a whopping 72 runs to Eton's final total, 49 of which were wides. Wendell White completed a good all-round day claiming 2-14.
