Hampshire County Cricket Club was shocked and saddened to learn of the death of 17 year-old Alistair Tremlett, who was tragically killed in a car accident near Winchester late last week.
Alistair, the second son of Hampshire's Director or Cricket, Tim Tremlett and his wife Carolyn, was travelling home from Sparshott College in Hampshire when the car he was travelling in with a companion was in collision with another. A young girl in the other car also died.
Alistair was the middle son of three boys. The eldest, Christopher, broke into the Hampshire first team last season, and the youngest is Benjamin. Maurice Tremlett, Tim's father, was a former captain of Somerset.
Earlier this year Tim Tremlett was named as manager to England Under 19s tour to India which starts next month and Christopher, a promising pace bowler, was also selected as a member of the 15-strong squad.
A decision as to whether they will proceed with their winter plans will be announced after the funeral has taken place on Friday.
Hampshire County Cricket Club has expressed deepest sympathies to Alistairs parents, family and friends. Family flowers only at the funeral but donations, if desired, should be made to RSPCA.
