The question whether the Pakistan women cricket team will participate in the IWCC qualifying round scheduled for Holland in July this year can be answered only after the International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting scheduled to be held in June.
According to the agenda of the meeting the ICC will consider the request made by the International Women Cricket Council (IWCC) to run women cricket affairs also.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) following an order of the Lahore High Court (LHC) to determine the genuine body from three women's warring groups and streamline the working of the women cricket had formed a scrutiny committee under Javed Zaman.
On the committee's recommendations, PCB had decided to look after the affairs of the women cricket and started to pick up a national team for the IWCC qualifying round.
On the other hand, a group based in Karachi which claims to have IWCC affiliation and has participated in previous activities of the International body has refused to accept these trials on the pretext that PCB had no authority to do so.
When contacted PCB general manager, Zakir Khan said that the board was taking all steps to resolve the matter for which the board has written to IWCC, ICC and Ministry of Pakistan that it had taken the affairs of women cricket under its control.
When asked what will be the situation if a team made by PCB and another of that women wing reached in Holland, Zakir said that it was premature to say any thing and added hopefully the situation would not be arise.
He said that if ICC would have accepted the request of IWCC then PCB would be the sole body to field a team in international competition.
Meanwhile, the second round of trials to pick women for the IWCC Trophy camp has been shifted from Peshawar and now will be held at Pindi Stadium Rawalpindi on previous dates April 15 and 16 at 10am.
The first round of trials were held here last week. PCB did not mention any reason behind shifting of the trials but it is learnt that two member selection committee of Imtiaz Ahmad and Ijaz Faqih was not ready to hold the trials in Peshawar.
