Initial reports had it that the interim report of the Central Bureau of Investigation into the match fixing scandal would be made public by the end of September. In the last few days however there have been clear indications that there might be some delay in the submission of the report.
Confirmation of the delay in the submission of the report was made by
a senior official on Sunday. "We are seeking legal assistance on the
evidence we have collected against some persons which might delay the
submission of the interim report to the government," CBI joint
director RN Sawani, who is investigating the matchfixing case, told
India Abroad News Service. "We are taking legal opinion whether the
evidence we have collected constitutes an offence and whether action
can be taken against a person found to be involved in match-fixing,"
he added. The interim report on the agency's four-month long probe is
now expected in the first week of October.
