Injured Ryder to miss WI tour game

New Zealand batsman Jesse Ryder's comeback to international cricket has been stalled after he was ruled out of West Indies' tour match against New Zealand XI due to multiple, minor injuries.
In a statement, Otago Cricket Association said that the batsman had injured his left knee while bowling and was struck on a finger while batting against Canterbury in a Plunket Shield match in Rangiora this week.
Otago's captain Derek de Boorder will replace Ryder in the New Zealand XI squad for the three-day tour game to be played from November 27 in Lincoln.
According to Otago Cricket, Ryder picked up a minor knee injury while bowling on the first day and experienced discomfort as the day wore on. Ryder bowled six overs in the first innings, and only one in the second innings. He also scored 120 in the first innings and was struck on the finger while batting. He aggravated the injury while fielding in the slips.
The injuries are not serious as Otago pyhsiotherapist James Montgomery said: "With it being so early in the season, the decision has been made to let Jesse rest and fully recover. This will give us the best opportunity of ensuring that neither injury develops into an ongoing concern."
