BRISBANE - Australian fast bowler Jason Gillespie was today ruled out of the first cricket Test against the West Indies with a hamstring injury, adding to a list of problems which have plagued his career.
GILLESPIE'S INJURIES
December 1996 - side strain forces Gillespie out of Boxing Day Test against West Indies in Melbourne.
August 1997 - spinal stress fractures incurred during fifth Test against England at Trent Bridge sidelines Gillespie for one year.
November 1998 - heel injury forces him to miss first Test against England.
December 1998 - right knee strain playing for South Australia keeps him out of remainder of Ashes series.
April 1999 - back spasms put Gillespie out of fourth Test against West Indies in Antigua.
September 1999 - breaks leg and injures wrist during sickening collision with Steve Waugh during first Test against Sri Lanka in Kandy.
November 2000 - hamstring strain forces him out of first Test against West Indies, Brisbane.
