Langeveldt and Arthur fined for code of conduct breaches

South Africa bowler Charl Langeveldt has been fined 75 per cent of his match fee while South Africa coach Micky Arthur has been fined 25 per cent of his match fee for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the fifth ODI against New Zealand on Sunday.

Langeveldt was found guilty of excessive appealing for the second time within a 12 month period. This put him in breach of Level 2 Paragraph 1 of the ICC Code which relates to a `repeat of any Level 1 offence within 12 months'.

All Level 2 breaches carry a minimum penalty of 50 per cent of a player's match fee and a maximum penalty of their full match fee and/or a one Test match or two One-Day International match ban.

Arthur was found guilty of showing dissent at an umpire's decision and therefore in breach of Level 1 Paragraph 3 of the ICC Code which relates to "showing dissent at an umpire's decision by action or verbal abuse".

"There is no place for this sort of behaviour in international cricket. As a coach and therefore a leader of his team he must set the example. Mr Arthur has apologised for his actions and I hope that we will not see this unsavory incident repeated," said Mr Broad

All Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand and a maximum penalty of 50 per cent of a player's match fee.

Both charges were brought by on-field umpires Steve Bucknor and Brian Jerling plus TV umpire Karl Hurter and were considered at hearings conducted by ICC Match Referee Chris Broad after the conclusion of play in Pretoria.

Mr Broad reached his conclusion after a hearing attended by those named above plus South African team manager Goolam Raja.
