Those who warned that Twenty20 was a one-year wonder were left scratching their heads last summer as crowds increased, and there is no sign that interest will wane in 2005.
Middlesex have announced that 11,000 tickets have already been sold for the Twenty20 match against Surrey at Lord's on June 23 and that only 5,000 tickets remain available for the public. These can be bought from the MCC ticket office on 020 7432 1000. Although Lord's can accommodate almost 30,000 spectators, the pavilion, Tavern, Allen and Warner stands are reserved for MCC and Middlesex members.
Last summer's match between the two counties attracted a full house.
