Even last season, there would have been no hesitation putting up United to beat Arsenal at Old Trafford. Not now though - with United struggling to score and the Gunners in such a rich vein of form it is hard to make a case for a Red Devils win on Sunday.

Things are not going as well for United this season, on and off the field. While they were being held to a goalless draw at Birmingham - their fifth stalemate of the campaign - Arsenal were stretching their league lead over the sixth-placed Reds to 11 points. United finished that game with four strikers but were still unable to break down a team that had previously failed to take a point off them in four Premiership meetings.

Another goalless draw on Tuesday night against Sparta Prague will hardly leave the Gunners quaking in their boots as they look to make it 50 successive Barclays Premiership matches unbeaten, and continue the best nine-game start in Premiership history (25 points and 29 goals).

The Gunners will be desperate to achieve this milestone, especially at the expense of their old rivals, while United need to kick-start their season and restore some pride against the team that ousted them as Premiership Champions. With so much at stake for both sides, the best bet could be to play the stalemate. The last three Premiership meetings of these teams have ended in a draw, while Wenger's men have kept a clean sheet in three of their last four visits to Old Trafford.
