The redevelopment of Lord's will begin with the Warner Stand being replaced and MCC have released innovative plans of the first phase of the project.
A new Warner Stand will improve the view for spectators and include a 135-seat restaurant along with world-leading match control and match officials' facilities that exceed ICC standards.
It has been designed with the environment in mind. Solar panels and ground-source heat pumps will provide warm water and photovoltaic panels will generate electricity. A water recycling system will also be installed.
The innovate plans also feature a timber-supported semi-translucent fabric roof - which will be the first of its kind in the country. The roof will reduce shadowing onto the pitch while providing both shade and a high degree of natural light to spectators.
"This is exciting for Lord's," MCC president Mike Gatting said. It's a major undertaking to put forward plans which will make significant changes to this wonderful ground. The project team has proposed an excellent blend of pioneering architecture and practical facilities to provide members and their friends with a wonderful place to watch cricket for many years to come.
"Lord's may be the Home of Cricket and the place every cricketer wants to play but it cannot stand still and must stay open for business during the course of construction. This spectacular new stand will help to ensure that MCC stays ahead of the game in terms of the facilities and spectator experience that are provided at Lord's."
