India A 99 for 6 (Mongia 48*) beat Pakistan A 97 by 4 wickets Scorecard
Dinesh Mongia played sheet-anchor as India A recorded a thrilling four-wicket victory against their Pakistani counterparts in the sixth match of the Kenstar Asian A Teams' tournament. India A will now clash for the title with Sri Lanka A.
After opting to first in a rain-reduced 25-over-a-side affair, the Pakistan batsmen faltered under overcast conditions and were skittled out for 97 in 22.2 overs. Their innings got off to a shaky start when Shahid Afridi lobbed a catch to Hemang Badani when he attempted a wild slog. Sanjay Bangar's double blow - Salman Butt and Naved Latif - in the 11th over had Pakistan wobbling at 52 for 5. Bilal Asad's patient 23 gave the total a vestige of respectability. Mongia and Sairaj Bahutule chipped in with two wickets apiece.
India began the chase well, but suffered a middle-innings shock from Junaid Zia, the medium-pacer. Zia's three quick wickets came too late in the day and Mongia ensured that the target was reached with 16 balls to spare. Mongia hit three fours and a six in his 61-ball innings.
