Katrina Withers returns to bolster the Canterbury women's cricket
team for the first time this season in its weekend double-header
against Otago, at Dudley Park today, and Hagley Oval tomorrow.
Selection panel convener Brigit Hearn welcomed the return of the New
Zealand all-rounder, who last month had a change of heart about her
unavailability for the season.
"It's great to have Katrina back, fresh and keen," Hearn said. The
double-header against Otago begins an intensive period for the
Canterbury team, which has away matches against Wellington and
Central Districts following.
Included in the Otago side are Canterbury recruits Sarah Helmore and
Erin Kelly with the team coached by Ann McKenna.
Canterbury team: Debbie Hockley (captain), Lisa Astle,
Catherine Campbell, Paula Flannery, Sally Frahm, Jo Lawler, Jane
Maley, Catherine Moffat, Nicola Payne, Haidee Tiffin, Helen Watson,
Katrina Withers.
