Marcus North put WA in charge

A dazzling century by Marcus North gave Western Australia the upper hand in their Pura Cup cricket match against Queensland at the Gabba. North finished the second day unbeaten on 102, with Western Australia just 17 shy of Queensland's total at 5 for 345.
North slammed 15 fours and two sixes, and was involved in a century stand with Scott Meuleman, who was 40 not out at stumps. After being on even keel for one and a half day, Western Australia were in a position to dominate against a Queensland team that needs a victory to keep alive its hopes of making the Pura Cup final.
Chris Rogers (73), Mike Hussey (49) and Murray Goodwin (48) had provided the early momentum as Western Australia looked to get a first innings lead, but Ashley Noffke, who finished with 2 for 47, reined them back to 5 for 239 before North and Meuleman dominated the final session.
