Otago Volts sponsors have their day out

As the State Otago Volts fly north tomorrow to begin their new season's State Championship campaign, Otago Cricket's sponsors have their own degree of anticipation.

More than 100 of the game's southern sponsors will contest the Anngow Motors $50,000 Golf Classic on the picturesque St Clair course tomorrow afternoon, the tournament designed specifically for Otago Cricket's sponsors.

Heading the prize list is a bright yellow Mazda6 sport hatch, valued at more than $50,000 and recently judged the 2002 National Business Review's car of the year. All those who shoot an 'ace' on the par 3 fourth will drive away in their newly-acquired vehicle with multiple holes-in-one being paid out. If no-one plays the perfect shot competition will still be fierce with $1000 cheque to be presented for the closest to the pin.

A further $10,000 in prizes will be on offer around the course and in the tournament's main list.

The Anngow Motors $50,000 Golf Classic will also double as Otago Cricket's first chance this season to entertain its growing sponsorship base.
