Other fates in the balance at Lincoln Green

South Africa and Sri Lanka complete the fourth round of the CricInfo Women's World Cup at Lincoln Green tomorrow and if the match goes to form South Africa should have a comfortable victory.
South Africa lie fifth on the table, trailing England on run rate but with a game in hand. Sri Lanka are one place behind their opponents tomorrow but with a considerably inferior run rate. And they face a team that learned from their match against the Netherlands on Monday that no opposition in this competition can be taken lightly.
However, the Sri Lankans have shown the ability to surprise. They have lifted their game since their pre-World Cup matches in Auckland, the warmer weather that has blessed the tournament undoubtedly contributing to their improved performances. Now opponents who treat them without due consideration do so at their peril. Just ask the Irish.
Having put themselves in a position to cement a semi-final place, the South Africans cannot be expected to slip up here and open the door for England to sneak past them. But, if the South Africans let their concentration slip, expect the Sri Lankans, with the all-important sixth spot in their grasp, to grab the opportunity to make a place in the next World Cup their own.
Plenty of interest from other teams in this one: England have an interest in a Sri Lankan victory; the Netherlands and Ireland need the Asian team to stay within reach.
