Pakistan players to be given contracts

Press Release: PCB on players conracts and other issues

The Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Lt Gen Tauqir Zia and Chief Executive Rameez Raja Thursday met in Rawalpindi and discussed a wide range of cricket related issues. The meeting lasted nearly four hours.
"We have finalized the players contract that will be awarded to the Sri Lanka-bound team later in the day. In addition to this, we have also finalized the charter of duties for the team management so that there is job clarity and the officials know exactly what their responsibilities and authorities are," chief executive of the PCB Rameez Raja said in a statement, adding: "We have also finalized the contract of Javed Miandad and will be awarding him Thursday evening. Naturally, we discussed the salient features of the contract with Javed before giving it the shape of an official document."
Rameez Raja said the Players Central Contracts were also discussed. "We are very close to finalizing the central contracts that will be awarded to a select number of players. Minor modifications are to be made in the contracts before they are awarded."
Rameez said the 2003-2004 domestic structure also came up for discussion but added that the PCB organizational structure was not discussed. "We have discussed the domestic structure because we have to be absolutely certain about the product we will be launching. It not only has to be sellable but also competitive and talent producing.
"But in today's meeting, we didn't discuss the PCB organizational structure. It is an inhouse activity that will be implemented as soon as the Chairman returns from Sharjah after attending the Asian Cricket Foundation (ACF) meeting."
Rameez Raja said the forthcoming Asian Cricket Foundation (ACF) meeting was also discussed at length. PCB Chairman Lt Gen Tauqir Zia leaves for Sharjah on Friday to attend the meeting scheduled for Saturday. India's Jaghmohan Dalmiya is the president of the ACF.
