Australia were 239 for six overnight, and the next day Border achieved his fourth Test century, hitting two 6s and and sixteen 4s, taking his total to five centuries in twenty Tests. He was joined by Beard to put on 134 for the seventh wicket - another record for Australia v Pakistan Tests. When Chappell declared on the second afternoon, the Australians had reached a total of 407. By evening on the third day, Pakistan were still 183 behind at 224 for five, but Majid Khan's unbeaten 110 (fourteen 4s) revived the innings and, with useful contributions from Wasim Raja and Imran Khan, Javed Miandad was able to declare 13 runs ahead. Majid and Imran had added 111 for the eighth wicket, setting a new record for Pakistan v Australia. Lillee's three wickets were his first in Pakistan. When Australia replied, ten of the Pakistan team bowled, Miandad keeping wicket while Taslim Arif took his turn, Imran took two quick wickets, but the Australians batted with determination and the game ended in a draw, leaving Pakistan a 1-0 victory in the series.
