PAKISTAN v ZIMBABWE

At Peshawar, November 3

15-Apr-1998
At Peshawar, November 3. Pakistan won on scoring-rate, Zimbabwe's target having been revised to 225 from 34 overs. Toss: Pakistan. International debut: Zahoor Elahi.
Several thousand people forced their way into an already packed ground by breaking down a gate, and the resulting trouble cut the match to 40 overs. Seven stoppages followed, with both sides pelted by stones, glass and fruit; Wasim Akram led Pakistan off when Abdur Razzaq was hit. Zimbabwe's target was revised because of the hold-up, but they were already struggling when their best batsman, Grant Flower, became the first victim of a hat-trick by Saqlain Mushtaq, who went on to make it four in five balls. Matambanadzo had claimed three early wickets, but Pakistan's last 20 overs yielded 194, thanks to a top-class 117 in 105 balls from Ijaz Ahmed and Moin Khan's 34 off just 17.
Man of the Match: Ijaz Ahmed, Sen. Men of the Series: Wasim Akram and G. W. Flower.
