The report appearing in a section of the press on 8 September 2001, is factually incorrect. The actual position is that Mr Waqar Mughal was appointed to stand as umpire in the match played between LCCA (W) and Peshawar in place of Riazuddin. Waqar Mughal was duly informed on August 31, 2001, but somehow the umpire did not turn up and the match was played as per the rules.
