Peter Trego, the Somerset allrounder, has re-signed with Central Districts for the coming HRV Cup in New Zealand. He will also participate in the opening five rounds of the Plunket Shield. This is Trego's second season with the domestic side, with his first season being cut short due to injury.
"It was bitterly disappointing to get injured last year and miss most of the HRV Twenty20," Trego said. "I was really keen to get another opportunity so when the invitation came to come back out to New Zealand I jumped at it."
While Trego only featured in three matches for Central Districts last season, scoring just 21 runs, he hopes to bank on his current form. He enjoyed a sterling run in the Yorkshire Bank 40 this past season, finishing on top of the run-scorers list with 745 runs at an average of 82.77, which included two hundreds and five fifties.
He will hope to carry this form into the HRV Cup, which is scheduled to begin on November 1 with a match against Canterbury in Christchurch.
