Defending NBA champions the Detroit Pistons stand on the verge of an historic achievement when they take on the San Antonio Spurs in a winner-takes-all deciding game seven of the NBA finals on Friday.
Only twice in 20 years has a side come back from losing the first two games to win the finals, but having squared the series with a gutsy 95-86 victory in San Antonio on Tuesday night, the Pistons are just one magic night away from retaining their crown and emulating the Pistons side of 1989-90.
However, let's not get carried away just yet. The Spurs still have home advantage for the final game of the series and that could mean everything as they look to win the Championship for the second time in three years.
The Spurs, who were 1/7 (1.14) after the first two games, are now 9/10 (1.90) to win on Friday night, giving the Pistons a five-point start. The champions were 5/1 (6.00) after losing the opening two encounters.
Winning at the death is nothing new for the Pistons though, as they only made the finals with a last-gasp victory over the Miami Heat as they won 4-3. Those of you who took the 8/1 (9.00) that they would come back to win 4-3 can probably have a saver on the Spurs on Friday.
