The caribbeancricket.com website reports that several players chosen for next month's A-team tour of England are in a quandary as the trip clashes with the lucrative Stanford 20/20 tournament.
Garfield Myers, the editor-at-large of the Jamaica Observe, said that more than half-a-dozen Jamaica players had received the invitation from the West Indies board, and they had been given until Monday to make up their minds.
Stanford's competition, which takes place in Antigua in July and August, offers one million dollars for the winners and $500,000 for the runners-up
Jackie Hendriks, the Jamaica Cricket Association chairman, met with some players and admitted that they would "have to decide for themselves" on the best course of action. He added that he could understand the players' quandary and
"wouldn't pretend to advise them on something like this. It is an entirely personal decision" and that they needed to decide whether to "take the risk and stay at home and decide to go for the pot of gold".
