Hamilton Masakadza's unbeaten 93 was in vain as Mountaineers were a run short of the par score when rain ended their chase against Mashonaland Eagles in Harare. Rain had interrupted Eagles' innings too after they chose to bat. Centuries from Sikandar Raza and Brendan Taylor carried them to 267 for 5 in 44 overs. Raza made it successive tons with 104 off 97 including 14 fours and a six while Taylor scored 101 off 107 with nine fours and three sixes. The duo added 179 for the second wicket. Mountaineers were set a revised target of 272 but lost their openers cheaply. Stuart Matsikenyeri and Forster Mutizwa made 20s but it was Masakadza who led the chase, his run-a-ball 93 including seven fours and three sixes. Masakadza stepped up the scoring-rate as Mountaineers took 40 off what turned out to be the last five overs of their innings but the rain found them just behind.
Sean Williams' all-round show helped Matabeleland Tuskers beat Mid West Rhinos by 35 runs in Bulawayo. Williams made 48 after Tuskers were asked to bat and took three wickets, including that of Rhinos' top-scorer Malcolm Waller (62). Tuskers' total of 223 was built on partnerships of 82 and 61 for the second and third wickets. Nkosana Mpofu (40) and Williams supported Craig Ervine, who made 70. Tuskers were 150 for 2 at one stage before losing their last eight wickets for 73. Michael Chinouya (3 for 16) and Kudakwashe Munyede (4 for 41) were the chief destroyers. Rhinos were down to 91 for 6 in the chase of 224 before Waller and Tendai Chisoro (43) put on 62. Tawanda Mupariwa broke that stand and Rhinos were eventually dismissed for 188 in the 45th over. Williams and Chris Mpofu took three wickets each.
