Replayed Limited Overs Matches

One of the consequences of the ICC decision to sanction the inclusion in career figures and statistics of ODI matches that had been started and were halted to be replayed from scratch was that when compiling the List `A' limited overs matchlist

One of the consequences of the ICC decision to sanction the inclusion in career figures and statistics of ODI matches that had been started and were halted to be replayed from scratch was that when compiling the List `A' limited overs matchlist similar considerations should apply there. The TCCB (as it was) had ruled in the past that such matches in English domestic limited overs competitions should not be counted, and that was the policy used in the ACS Yearbooks when separate figures for each competition were given.
However, I revisited this decision when combining the details to obtain a single limited overs career line - another consideration being that in some countries (for example Australia, South Africa and West Indies) such matches were included in records kept by statisticians in their own countries, although others (such as New Zealand) followed the England position. It makes more sense from the consistency viewpoint to stick to one convention for all countries, and although there is an argument which says that having more than one appearance for a single game does not make sense, I prefer the view that at the time these matches were played the performances would have been expected to be counted as the actual match and it was only later weather considerations that forced a restart.
There follows a listing of all such matches - I think I have now found all of them and there are some I have only recently found which means the next ACS Yearbook will have modified figures for some players. There are some original matches where full scorecard details have not yet been discovered. If anyone does think I have omitted any matches please let me know.
In some cases either the original match (where the rules allocated two days with a fresh start being made each day whether or not play had started) or the replay were abandoned without a ball bowled. The regulations at one time in England provided for a new match to be started if there was insufficient time was available to complete the one that had started - this explains why there are two matches starting on the same day in some cases. The date in brackets is the date of the replay.

Notes: 1. McDonald's Cup Final replay took place at the start of the 1983/84 season at Perth
2. This match was started three times (and still finished in a no result)
3. This match was eventually decided by a bowl-out
4. The original match was halted by riots and re-scheduled but the replay and the tournament final (scheduled for 11 Dec) were later cancelled.
5. The rules of the competition provided for the semi-finalists and finalists to be decided by run rates in the preliminary matches but when all the competing teams agreed to replay the matches prior to the scheduled date for the final (all were successfully completed) Nondescripts beat Sinhalese Sports Club when the latter would have qualified if the abandonments had stood.
6. The replay should have taken place on 13 November but the match referee had incorrectly interpreted the playing conditions and the West Indies Cricket Board had to order the replay for the day after.
7. The original match was declared void when the game was halted near the start because of the dangerous pitch conditions. In this one case, the original match has not been included in figures.
8. A replay was ordered when it was found Worcestershire had fielded an ineligible player, Kabir Ali, who had already appeared for the Worcestershire Cricket Board in an earlier round. The ECB later amended the tournament rules to permit this in future.
