South Division

Surrey stole a march over their nearest rivals, Kent, at the top of the Southern Division with a thumping six-wicket victory at Beckenham. Kent were on the back foot from the moment that Matthew Nicholson dismissed both openers with just 16 runs on the board, and when Geraint Jones was caught behind off Rikki Clarke for a duck, they were teetering at 41 for 4. Chris Schofield then continued his fine form in the competition, bamboozling the lower order with 3 for 18 off four overs, before the No. 11, Simon Cook, added some respectability to the score with 25 not out from 13 balls. Cook briefly kept Kent's hopes alive when he dismissed both Mark Ramprakash and Mark Butcher with the score on 69, but Azhar Mahmood and Clarke hustled to victory with 14 balls to spare.

Midland/West/Wales Division

Two wickets apiece for James Anyon and Paul Harris secured Warwickshire a nine-run win in a rain-hit clash against Glamorgan at Cardiff. Warwickshire's truncated innings was built around Darren Maddy's unbeaten 43, as he tried to nudge England's selectors even harder that Twenty20 specialists deserve a look-in, and Tim Ambrose's 25-ball 42 to give his growing reputation another boost as the third wicket added 83. Set a revised 83 off nine overs, Glamorgan stumbled from the start and fell to 32 for 4. Mark Wallace briefly raised hopes with 25 off 13 balls but there was too much left to do.
Northamptonshire's match against Gloucestershire at Milton Keynes was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

North Division

Just 72 deliveries were possible at a soggy Grace Road, as Leicestershire and Derbyshire were forced to settle for one point apiece. Batting first, Derbyshire had reached 50 for 2 from 7.3 overs when the heavens opened. After a lengthy delay, Leicestershire were set 58 from seven overs for victory, but had reached 28 for 2 after 4.3 when the match was abandoned.
