Second one-day international

15-Apr-2006
For the second match running, the contest was over long before the final ball was bowled, as Pakistan defended a total of 258 with a combination of discipline and commitment. Shahid Afridi's fizzing variations were too much for batsmen unaccustomed to them: the most satisfying of his four wickets came when he bowled Hinds round his legs. Morton reached a maiden one-day half century without really getting on top of the bowling - his 55 occupied 98 balls - and his eventual dismissal by Afridi extinguished any lingering home hopes. Younis Khan's 48, ended by a superb diving catch by Gayle at backward point, had maintained Pakistan's momentum. Bradshaw and Powell were a model of economy with the new ball, but were later strangely overlooked by Chanderpaul in favour of Bravo, who disappeared for 75 off his ten overs.
Man of the Match: Shoaib Malik.
