Pakistan's chief selector Saleem Jaffar has said that the 15-man squad for the one-dayers against West Indies in Abu Dhabi will be picked by November 3.
Jaffar was watching the progress of players during the ongoing Pentangular Cup and said all "options were open" ahead of the Abu Dhabi series which begins on November 12. Shoaib Akhtar, who is hoping for an ODI comeback, needed four spells to complete nine overs, playing for the Federal Areas against Sind at the National Stadium.
"Shoaib is bowling well. He is pushing and trying to do better in every over. He is just lacking in stamina," Jaffar, who was also a Pakistan fast bowler, told the Karachi-based News. "I'm aware that pacers need time on their comeback. We are willing to give him time and will only sit down for final selection after the next Pentangular Cup match [beginning on October 31]."
Shoaib was part of the Pakistan squad for the Twenty20 tournament in Canada earlier this month but he failed to impress, taking 3 for 82 in ten overs in three matches. He hasn't played a one-day international since the tour of India in 2007.
