Hampshire take 13 players to Derby this week, for the vital PPP healthcare County Championship match against fellow strugglers Derbyshire.
Robin Smith travels with his ham string still causing concern, however he will only play if he's convinced that he can survive the four days. If Smith does not play, Lawrence Prittipaul will make his first-class debut. Prittipaul who has played two NUCGU matches this season, has been scoring runs regularly with the Seconds.
Giles White has recovered from his elbow injury and returns to open the innings.
The other twist to the game is that with Derby being notorious for producing a seamers pitch, Shaun Udal may be left out of the team, John Stephenson taking his place, which means overseas star Shane Warne would captain the side.
Hampshire's last visit brings back good memories as it was the venue for their exciting victory at the end of the 1999 season, that secured them a first division place. A victory again would go some way to assisting Hampshire from avoiding the drop.
The Hampshire team that travels is: Giles White, Derek Kenway, Will Kendall, Robin Smith (or Lawrence Prittipaul), Jason Laney, Adi Aymes, Dimitri Mascarenhas, Shane Warne, Shaun Udal (or John Stephenson), Peter Hartley, Alan Mullally.
