Graeme Smith´s side are 4/6 (1.66) to win the fourth match in the series, a day-nighter to be played at Kingsmead in Durban on Friday. The New Zealanders, who have not played that badly in each of the first three matches, are 11/10 (2.20) to win and restore some pride, a word mentioned by captain Stephen Fleming after the latest defeat.
As so often over the past few years, South Africa´s lower order completed the job, with Justin Kemp already proving to be a real thorn in New Zealand´s side. With no Test matches to be played on this tour, they have thrown themselves into the one-day games, not least because they travel to Australia for a series in December.
For New Zealand, victory in one of the two remaining matches - the last is at Centurion on Sunday - would be a lift to their morale as they prepare for home one-day international series against Australia and Sri Lanka.
Stephen Fleming tops the betting at 3/1 (4.00) with bet365 to be his side´s top scorer at Kingsmead, followed by Scott Styris and Nathan Astle at 9/2 (5.50). Fleming´s opposite number Graeme Smith is the 100/30 (4.33) favourite to head the South Africa runscorers, while Jacques Kallis is 7/2 (4.50), Herschelle Gibbs, top scorer in the last game, is 4/1 (5.00) and AB
de Villiers is 5/1 (6.00). Justin Kemp, who has ruined a couple of New Zealand´s best chances, is a 13/2 (7.50) bet.
New Zealand have plenty of spirit but it is hard to see South Africa being stopped now they are on such a roll, partly because they have several match-winners in their side.
