Sri Lanka Still Hopeful Of Australia Tour (23 Apr 1996)

SRI LANKA STILL HOPEFUL OF AUSSIE TOUR HERE

The Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka (BCCSL) has launched a new move to impress Australia to go ahead with its proposed tour of Sri Lanka later this year. BCCSL sources said that the new Board leadership will speak to the top men at the Australian Cricket Board on the matter. The new move comes ahead of the scheduled ACB Ex-Co meeting mid next month where a final decision would be taken.

Australia are due to tour Sri Lanka from July to play two Tests and participate in the Singer Quadrangular tournament which also features India and Zimbabwe. But there have been many speculations over the Aussies` presence here after they forfeited their World Cup first round match in Colombo last month.
