Sri Lanka To tour West Indies In May 1997

The West Indies are finalising the tour itinerary of Sri Lanka`s tour of the Caribbean islands and will be sent to the BCCSL soon. The have confirmed that they will host Sri Lanka for a full Test tour in May next year. This will be Sri Lanka`s first ever Test tour of the Caribbean Island since gaining full ICC membership in 1981.

A Indies Board of Control for Cricket (WIBCC) official said they will host Sri Lanka for a five-week tour in May to play two Tests, three one day internationals and two three-day side games.

Bridgetown and St.John`s are the likely venues for the Tests. Sri Lanka and the West Indies have met each other only once in Test cricket - in Sri Lanka`s 50th Test at the Tyronne Fernando Stadium, Moratuwa in 1993.
