The following is excerpted from a statutory declararion originally
completed by Tim May on 9 April 1995 and tendered in Melbourne today
before the Lahore High Court special hearing. One word has been edited
due to its coarse nature:
"On the 1994 Australian tour of Pakistan I roomed with Shane Warne
during the first Test in Karachi. On the night before the last day of
the Test, Shane received a telephone call from a Pakistani player. He
then told me he was going to see Salim Malik.
Shane returned to our room after about 10 minutes and said to me:
"You're not going to believe this" and then told me we had been
offered $ US 200,000 each not to bowl well the following day. I asked
Shane if he had told the rat to get f****d.
We both agreed it was not the right thing to do and Shane rang Malik
that night to tell him we were not interested.
I have never spoken to Malik about the issue.
Later on the tour in Rawalpindi I was at a BBQ. Warney said to me:
"It's happened again" and then told me about the approach made to him
and Mark Waugh by Malik at the Presidential reception earlier that
night."
