New Zealand cricket captain Stephen Fleming is already back in the
gymnasium as part of his recovery from a groin injury.
The 25-year-old resumed stretching and cycling exercises on Friday,
and swimming yesterday.
But he is an unlikely starter for the first test against South Africa
in Auckland starting on February 27.
A more probable return will be the second test in Christchurch
starting on March 11.
"It's still a little bit tight but it's coming up pretty well where it
should be at this time," said Fleming.
He underwent surgery on the troublesome groin injury at St George's
Hospital in Christchurch on January 21.
The surgery involved the release of the adductor longus tendon.
"It's quite an aggressive recovery," Fleming said of the various gym
work he is already undertaking.
"I'm able to push it quite a bit harder than other injuries. They
don't want it to heal short again."
