3- Number of double-centuries for Steven Smith in Tests, all coming against England in The Ashes. Only two batsmen have scored more double-hundreds in Ashes history. Don Bradman leads the list with eight double tons to his name followed by Wally Hammond with four.

6- Number of batsmen to score two double-centuries against England in England. Steven Smith joined Bradman, Zaheer Abbas, Viv Richards, Gordon Greenidge and Graeme Smith in doing so. While Bradman scored five 200s in England, the others all got two each. Smith had made 215 at Lord's in the 2015 Ashes.

Bob Simpson had made 311 in the Ashes in 1964, which is the highest followed by Gordon Greenidge's 223 in 1984. Smith is the only Australia batsman to have scored double-hundreds in England in the last 25 years. The last before him was Allan Border at Headingley in 1993.

Only five batsmen have scored more centuries in the first innings of Tests than Smith's 16. His average is second only to Bradman's 113.66. Smith's career average is now 64.64. He has 6788 runs in 67 Tests, which is an average of more than 100 runs every Test.

3- Smith has scored over 500 runs in each of the last three Ashes: 508 runs in 2015 Ashes in England, 687 runs in the 2017-18 home Ashes and 589 runs in this series. No other batsman has scored 500-plus runs in three successive Ashes series. Bradman scored 500-plus runs in five different series, but not three in a row.
