The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has invited a number of persons with an interest in regional cricket to a two-day Strategic Planning Meeting in Antigua on November 2 and 3.
Past and present cricketers, media personnel, umpires, Board executives and members will assemble at the Royal Antiguan Hotel on Thursday and Friday to discuss and chart the future of West Indies cricket. Input is being sought from this wide cross-section of stakeholders on a variety of areas, including cricket development, competitions, umpiring, technology, facilities and equipment.
Among those attending the meeting will be WICB President Pat Rousseau, WICB Chief Executive Officer Gregory Shillingford, WICB Youth Coach Gus Logie, WICB Cricket Committee Chairman Jackie Hendriks, Chairman of Selectors Mike Findlay, umpires Steve Bucknor and Eddie Nicholls, past West Indies cricketers Gordon Greenidge, Michael Holding, Joe Solomon, and Desmond Haynes; current first-class players Roland Holder and Philo Wallace, and West Indies Players' Association (WIPA) representative, David Holford. Leading cricket writers Tony Cozier and Tony Becca, are among the journalists invited.
As at the 1996 Strategic Planning Meeting, the facilitator at this meeting will be former WICB executive member, Edward "Teddy" Griffith.
"We are trying to make it as broad-based as possible. We are going to review all that has happened since 1996 when we launched a cricket strategy paper. We are looking for ideas and input from all stakeholders as we move forward in West Indies cricket," said the WICB's Director of Coaching, Reg Scarlett.
A press conference will follow the wrap-up of the meeting on Friday evening. It will take place at the Royal Antiguan Hotel at a time to be announced later.
