Upali Dharmadasa another term

Upali Dharmadasa has been given another term as president of the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka which holds its 49th annual general meeting at the Cricket Board headquarters on March 2.

When nominations closed at noon yesterday, Dharmadasa`s name was the only one received for the post of president. He was elected to office last year. This means that Dharmadasa will be able to serve his two-year term as laid out in the Sports Law.

Also uncontested are the posts of Assistant Secretary (Ajith Abeygunawardena) and Treasurer (Kumar Weerasooriya).

The other three office-bearer posts - vice presidents, secretary and assistant treasurer will all face a contest.

The nominations for the seven office-bearer posts subject to ExCo ratification: President - Upali Dharmadasa (uncontested); Vice Presidents (2 posts) - Thilanga Sumathipala, Abu Fuard, Jayantha Paranathala; Secretary (1 post) - Tryphone Mirando, Chrisantha de Silva; Assistant Secretary (uncontested) - Ajith Abeygunawardena; Treasurer (uncontested) - Kumar Weerasooriya; Assistant Treasurer (1 post) - Mithra Siriwardena, Nimal Leuke. - (S.T.)
