Warring sides set to meet again

The ongoing dispute between the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) and the Players' Association (WIPA) could be settled on Thursday as the two sides again sit down to try to resolve matters. If talks fail, there remains an outside chance that Friday's final ODI in St Lucia might not go ahead.

The issues causing the stand-off include terms and conditions, as well as outstanding match fee payments for members of the West Indies team for previous matches, WIPA has rejected the board's position on these matters.

Last week, the WICB presented what it described as "a comprehensive broad-based proposal, which speaks to a complete overhaul of all aspects of players' salaries". However, WIPA countered that the offer omitted "so much substantial and significant information and detail that any meaningful engagement on that basis alone is impossible".

If the talks break down completely then it is possible that the remaining matches in the domestic first-class tournament could be boycotted and there would also be immediate doubts about Friday's ODI and the tour of England which follows.
