Press Release PCB: Announces award of benefit matches to Wasim Bari and Shoaib Mohammad

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to award the first one-day international between Pakistan and South Africa as benefit match of former captain Wasim Bari. South Africa will tour Pakistan in late September for three Tests and as many one-day internationals and although the itinerary of the tour is in the process of being finalized, the first one-day international is expected to be played at the National Stadium under lights.
The PCB has already awarded South Africa's one-day warmup match to former Test opener Shoaib Mohammad who is now a national selector. The match is likely to be played at the Steel Town ground in Karachi tentatively on September 22.
Wasim Bari, who served as a chief selector between 2000 and 2003, represented Pakistan in 81 Tests and 51 one-day internationals. In the Test arena, Wasim Bari accounted for 228 batsmen behind the wicket besides contributing 1,366 runs with the bat. He captained Pakistan in six Tests. In one-dayers, he dismissed 62 batsmen and scored 221 runs.
